Fibreglass Lining to Roof of Tank

About the Research

Lining Services were asked to visit site, survey and submit a quote to apply a fibreglass lining to the roof of this fuel oil storage tank at a power station in Kent. The tank roof had badly corroded and concerns were that further corrosion could lead to the roof becoming unsafe and inaccessible for their workforce.

Project Summary

Following all Health & Safety procedures being in place, the external roof surfaces were grit blasted to remove all corrosion and provide a key ready for the fibreglass application. The roof was primed and a laminate consisting of 2 layers of 600 gram chopped strand matting was applied.

A final colour coat was applied to fully seal, complete with an added aggregate to provide a suitable non-slip surface.

Once completed, the roof was free from further corrosion, and the fibreglass laminate added much needed structural strength.

The client chose the colours to signify the contents of the tank.

A 10 year guarantee was given.
