Lining Services were asked to visit site, survey and submit a quote to apply a fibreglass lining to the roof of this fuel oil storage tank at a power station in Kent.
The tank roof had badly corroded and concerns were that further corrosion could lead to the roof becoming unsafe and inaccessible for their workforce.
Following all Health and Safety procedures being in place, the external roof surfaces were grit blasted to remove all corrosion and provide a key for the fibreglass application.
This photograph shows our Lining Services operatives at work. At this stage, the roof has been primed and a laminate consisting of 2 layers of 600 gram chopped strand matting have been applied.
The operatives are applying the final colour coat to fully seal. An aggregate was applied to provide a suitable non-slip surface.
Once completed, the roof was free from further corrosion and the fibreglass laminate added much needed structural strength.
A 10 year guarantee was given.
