"A TANK WITHIN A TANK"
These photographs show a sectional effluent tank, size 96' x 20' x 16' deep at a food processing factory in East Anglia.THE PROBLEM
The tank was installed about 20 years ago and was badly corroded inside contaminating the water it contained. The tank was also leaking badly.THE SOLUTION
A survey was carried out and it was recommended that the lining of the tank in-situ with fibreglass would solve both problems. The tank interior was first grit blasted which removed the previous paint coatings and corrosion. It was then lined with a 3mm thickness of chopped strand glassfibre laminate with isopthalic polyester resin - a final high abrasion resistant polyester surface coating was then applied giving the interior surface a high gloss ceramic like appearance. The lining was allowed to cure and the tank was refilled - the result was a complete success with no further corrosion contaminating the water and the leaks were sealed. For more information on how Lining Services can help you with your tank repair or lining go to the Tank lining page or contact or call Steve Dowdell on 01206 570090.
