Fixing leaks - case studies

A 20 year old badly corroded and leaking water tank was repaired and its appearance improved with the use of a "Tank Within A Tank".

It was decided to deal with the problem by the application of a fibreglass lining around all joints and pipework

After discussion with the plant maintenance engineer it was decided to line the bund with fibreglass. the surface was prepared and a fibreglass lining was applied, creating a “Bund within a Bund”.

We applied a fibreglass lining of chopped strand glassfibre with polyester resin. The brickwork was firstly primed with polyester resin, then the chopped strand glassfibre was applied which was saturated with polyster resin.

The tank was first gritblasted and a fibreglass lining applied using the hand lay-up process, creating a “tank within a tank”

After the stream was lined with fibreglass it was allowed to cure and the stream and weirs were put back in use, with the result that there were no further leaks and all the water was retined.
