How a fibreglass lining can solve the problem of a leaking tank.
THE PROBLEM
As can be seen from the photograph on the right, was that the the tank was leaking badly in about six places and effluent was draining onto process areas.
THE SOLUTION
In order to deal with the problem it was decided to line the tank with fibreglass.
The tank was first gritblasted and a fibreglass lining applied using the hand lay-up process, creating a “tank within a tank”.
THE COMPLETED JOB
After lining, the tank was re-filled and then surveyed.
It was found that all the leaks had been sealed and the lining would obviate any further corrosion.
