After the stream was lined with fibreglass it was allowed to cure and the stream and weirs were put back in use, with the result that there were no further leaks and all the water was retined.
We created a “tank within a tank” by first gritblasting and then applying a fibreglass lining using the hand lay-up process. After lining, a survey showed that the leaks had been sealed and the lining would obviate any further corrosion.
We dealt with the leaking roof problem by applying a fibreglass lining around all joints and pipework. After the lining had been applied, tests demonstrated that the fibreglass lining had completely sealed the roof with no further leakage.
After discussion with the plant maintenance engineer we decided to line the leaking and damaged bund with fibreglass. The surface was prepared and a fibreglass lining was applied, creating a “Bund within a Bund”. Any further leakage would be contained protecting the bund from further damage.
